PROGRAM CONTENT
Program consists 8 modules
Stage 1
Module 1: 20 hours face to face and 20 hours directed learning
English Grammar : Basics of grammar required to speak and write correctly. Teaches the simplest methods of spoken and written English. Allows students to begin at the beginning and provides them all the tools for building vocabulary and using the words correctly.
Module 2: 20 hours of face to face and hours directed learning
Sentence Structures : Beginning the building blocks of English Language, step by step building simple sentences first and more difficult sentences later. Developing Sentences individually and in groups. Reading and speaking techniques.
Module 3 : 20 hours of face to face and 20 hours of learning
Learning to Speak English : Stage 1: This is an important module where total immersion techniques are used. Students are taught the complete methodology for speaking, asking questions and answering questions, gathering words and recall of words, use of verbs, nouns and adjectives. This module START UP a student on the road to speaking confidently.
Module 4: 20 hours of face to face and 20 hours directed learning
Learning to Speak English : Stage 2: In this module, student are taken to a higher platform through more intensive total immersion techniques in English conversion. A number of learning games,group activity and Interaction takes place. Students are drilled in to making sentences, asking and answering questions, making brief presentations.
Stage 2
Module 5: 20 hours of face to face and 20 hours of directed learning
Learning to Speak English : In this module, Students are pushed to the highest level in Speaking English, Focus here is on pronunciation, diction, intonation and building a confident platform for Speaking English, making brief presentations and participating in group discussion.
There is greater focus on dealing with customers, persuasive language to win customers over and making a clear statement of corporate plans and strategies.
Module 6: 20 hours of face to face and 20 hours of directed learning
Letters, Memos and Reports : This module teaches the simpler and finer techniques of writing letters, memos and reports. Students will work individually and in groups and will develop the techniques and standard formats for writing letters, memos reports.
Module 7: 20 hours of face to face and 20 hours of directed learning
English Language and Literature : This module deals with English Language and Literature in order to give students an understanding of the richness and value of English Language and Literature. It deals with the history of English Language, English as spoken in a number of countries, its International character. Students will also be introduced to the more important prose and poetry in English Literature.
Module 8: 20 hours of face to face and 20 hours of directed learning
Final Test Run and Polish : This is a fun module for all students who have worked diligently through the last 7 modules. In this module, students will demonstrate their language competence and will be called upon to role-play the CEO of a company, Marketing Manager, Supervisor and a number of other positions in the corporate sector. They will make presentations, have board room discussions, will be able to interview candidates for jobs, write letter and brief memos and reports. At this stage, they are expected to have a deal of confidence and be able to have an excellent command of English.
Teaching Methodology
Teaching Methodology is unique and is a combination of rigid teaching, total immersion, persuasion and motivation and is aimed at breaking the barriers for learning and speaking English. Students will find the methodology highly interesting and effective and will come to regard the learning of English as fun.
SYNERGIES Management Club SYNERGIES Management Club has plans for helping English Language graduates to continue with their learning program and has therefore decided to established a Management Club for graduates to meet each other and talk English. There will be game rooms and various functions including guest speakers from Colombo who will frequently address the club. This club will be open to all graduates in English, in Management and other specializations.
